What to wear (prepare for the weather!)

Currently the weather will be warm (around 15 degrees) but there is a slight chance of drizzly rain. You will be get warm, but if you want to bring a hat for baby for possible rain please do. PLEASE DO NOT take carrier hood or anything (such as a muslin etc) over baby’s head. For safety and airflow you must have baby’s head and face clear at all times. As per the email and WhatsApp groups you can buy a DLAM t-shirt (you will now need to pay for express delivery). Please wear bright leggings, shorts, skirts etc. Footwear must be trainers. Please do not wear heeled shoes, boots or flip fop type sandals.

Arrival Details

We will be meeting at 10am. Please ensure you allocate enough time for traffic, parking and walking to the meeting point. We have 130 Mums and babies taking part, so we need this time to ensure the performance goes is as smoothly as possible. If you want to grab a coffee etc beforehand please do. Please be aware that the instructors will be very busy ahead of the performance. So we won’t be able to check our phones or WhatsApp messages. So please make sure you have read this fully and are prepared ahead of the day.

Parking & Travel

Closest car park is MSCP Media City, M50 2TG. There should be spaces there, but if this is full there is the Pitch, or Quayside next to the Lowry (but please note this is a short walk to Media City). There are several tram stops in media city. Please ensure you plan your route ahead of time.

Meeting Points

PLEASE ARRIVE AT THE MEETING POINT FOR 10AM - Each class is allocated a meeting point. Here you will meet your Instructor and her other classes. We have this time to do the following:

  • Feed and change baby so they are settled ahead of going in the carrier

  • Fit your carrier. Ensure this is fitted high, tight and as we have shown you in class.

  • Once you are ready please find your instructor.

  • Then you will be given your name sticker so we know you have arrived. This has your row and number on (make sure you know this also ahead of time too. It’s on the stage layout below)

  • You will get your carrier checked/fitted so you are safe and comfy for the performance.

  • Find the ladies you are in a row with and feel free to run through anything (Maybe keep moving and help these babies feel relaxed…and napping even better!)

  • If you have loaned a carrier please liaise with your instructor in class this week with regards to getting them and giving them back.

Belongings: Please ensure you have someone with you to keep hold of your belongings. If you don’t have someone with you then please bring just what you need. There will not be a safe space to leave belongings. Dance Like a Mother and We Invented the Weekend cannot take any responsibility for any loss or damage to belongings.

Performance time

The classes will all head over to STAGE RIGHT at 10.45am when your instructor is happy that carriers are fitted etc. You will go in your rows, with Number 1’s leading the way. Please wait here and your instructor will guide you into position when the session before us has ended. We recommend holding hands if you feel happy to do so, as this will help with spacing and keeping the lines straight. This will need to be done as quickly as possible, so please listen and pay attention. Ensure you are laid out in row, staggered and with space behind you as per the plan.

We will start the performance at 10.55am. Nikki will be announcing us on as we get into position and then will signal for Lullaby to start once everyone is in place. There will be some previous attendees kids joining us at front for the end of Lullaby. Once this has finished we will go into Where the Hell is my Husband as directed to you in your WhatsApps.

After & DLAM Family Class

As soon as we have finished the performance, we will be going straight into our Family Taster class. We would LOVE this to be the biggest class we have ever done and celebrate 10 years of DLAM! So please invite family & friends to support you and join in. As soon as we have finished the performance grab your partners, friends, family and join in. This will be on until 11.15am. Unfortunately we only have a small amount of time, so we are unable to fit carriers to partners etc.

Photos & Videos

We will have a photographer and videographer there on the day. After the class please meet us for a BIG GROUP PHOTO by the side of the stage (stage left).
